Nestled in peaceful rural East Lothian, Whitekirk is a charming village centred around the ancient and historic church of St Mary's.
Some thirty miles east of Edinburgh, and located between the coastal towns of North Berwick and Dunbar, the village has a rich history, a thriving community and a welcoming heart.
An East Lothian gem
Along with nearby Tyninghame, Whitekirk was designated a conversation area in 1969, and has several A and B listed buildings, not least the church after which the village is named.
Once almost entirely a farming community, the village is now more cosmopolitan, and is home to over a hundred residents from a wide range of backgrounds.
East Lothian is, of course, famed for its golf, its castles and its hospitality, and Whitekirk can provide all three. Set on the cliffs looking out over the Bass Rock, the iconic Tantallon castle is just two miles away. The Whitekirk Golf and Country Club is on our doorstep. And while we have no pub, the atmospheric early 20th century village hall regularly plays host to Burns Suppers, Quiz Nights, children's Christmas shows and other entertainments.
